Your bridesmaids will look gorgeous on your big day. YES THEY WILL. This is how…
It is extremely difficult to get a single dress that works well on even two women…SO DON’T. The key is to have the ladies that you consider closest to you feel comfortable on your big day. If they are comfortable, they will be happy…AND…happiness exudes beauty.
That said, try one of these two directions—or find your own direction.
1. Take your ladies out for a shopping day where you have appointments at three stores. Have your color choice in mind and let them try on dresses that come in that color. Then, have them each pick a dress that they love. If they are happy, YOU will be happy. There is nothing worse than unhappy friends. AND there is absolutely no reason to have them all dressed in the same outfit. This is not the army. Let their uniqueness show…that is what you love about them in the first place.
2. If you are not having a formal or semi-formal wedding, rather you are having a vintage or homey styled one with a minimum of three bridesmaids…OR…if your bridesmaids are of different races—much like a Beneton ad, try giving your ladies (or male bridesmaid) a color. NOT NECESSARILY a specific Pantone color swatch…rather, let’s say “purple”. Then have them look for specific dresses in that purple’s color family. Let them play with tones. This will give a clean creative feel while also keeping your ladies happy in what they are wearing. OF COURSE, you have the final say…use your Bridezilla excuse (don’t actually be one, just jokingly toss in the concept…NO ONE wants to even tempt waking the option of the inner beast that all brides have the right to become from time to time).
Keeping all that in mind, treat your ladies well. The wedding is one day, your friends and family are for life! OH…A homemade brunch WITH MIMOSAS before a big shopping day is the way to go. Make your bridesmaids feel special…because the are!
Love you Aliana, Lue, and Alexandra. You were the most beautiful and wonderful bridesmaids a girl could ever ask for. Thank you for making my big day and the year leading to it so incredibly wonderful. Besos!
