We chose to go with a DJ for our wedding. The easiest choice we made during our entire wedding process was to work with Scratch Events. Throughout all of the planning, we had to stay extremely organized. Working with Scratch Events, was great because they were so organized…such a HUGE relief.
We filled out an initial survey to convey what kinds of music that we liked. From there, we were paired with a specific DJ…in our case, Dan Chavez. We were then sent a sample of his mixing style and a bio…at that moment, it seemed as though we were fated to work together…
You see, Franklin, my husband comes from a Jamaican family. This DJ, at a point worked on a Jamaican cruise line. He also spins at high end events. The PERFECT combination.
We then had a meeting with him and our liaison from Scratch Events on the phone—a meet and greet, if you will. Dan Chavez was extremely kind, easy going, and experienced. He went so far as to invite us to an event where he was working so that we could see him in action. We were hooked immediately.
Our final step was to create a song list. This is a clarification of what songs we want played and when—like the “first dance”. This list enabled us to highlight songs that we wanted played AND songs that under no circumstances were to be played.
THAT’S IT. Other than that, DJ Dan Chavez showed up to our wedding, set up, played great music, and followed all of the cues that we put on our guide. We are still, months later, getting complimented on how great the music was. The incredible part is that we are getting these compliments from the grandparents AND our peers…EVERYONE was happy. Especially us.
